Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Activities

The Student Affairs Committee of the Teratology Society is coordinating several networking activities during the meeting. Information about these activities are posted under the Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Tab and include:

Volunteer Opportunity
Students are encouraged to assist with MentorCorps interviews, which document the roles that our long-standing Teratology members have played in the history and future of our Society. This is a great way to learn more about the Society and get to meet some of its most influential members. Interested individuals should contact Christine Curran.

Saturday Mixer
Get acquainted or reacquainted with your fellow student and postdoctoral attendees before the start of the meeting. Students and postdoctoral attendees are encouraged to meet at the Lobby Bar at 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 27. The Lobby Bar is located on the west wing of the third floor of the Wyndham Rio Mar.

Student/Postdoctoral Fellow Platform Session
Discover more about the research of other students and postdocs. Support your colleagues at the platform session on Sunday, June 28 from 9:15 AM–12:00 NOON. The two best presentations in this session will be selected to receive a Wilson Presentation Award of $500.

James C. Bradford Memorial Student Poster Award
This is an award for the best poster presentation by a student at the annual meetings of the Teratology Society and Neurobehavioral Teratology Society (NBTS). It is jointly sponsored by the Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association (MARTA) and sanofi-aventis. The award will be announced during the Teratology Society Banquet.

MARTA/MTA Student Career Event
Take advantage of this great networking opportunity. Join MARTA/MTA for dinner, conversation, and networking at a Student Career Event on Monday, June 29 from 7:30 PM–9:30 PM. This popular annual event is for students and postdocs attending the joint meetings of the Teratology Society, NBTS, and OTIS. As you prepare for the next phase in your professional career, we offer you this opportunity to meet your fellow students and postdocs and to interact with scientists from academia, government, and industry. This is also an opportunity for you to discuss your future and the various career paths available to you.

Teratology Society XXVIII Annual Volleyball Game
Come one, come all and join in the fun! The 28th Annual Volleyball Game will be held Wednesday, July 1 at 6:00 AM. This is an event that you will not want to miss. It is anticipated that a challenge will be issued by the "seasoned players" to the student and postdoctoral attendees on the court. Stop by the registration desk for more information on how to participate in this match—it is free and open to all attendees. If you don’t play, come out and cheer!

Become More Involved
The Teratology Society encourages Student and Postdoctoral Fellows to become more involved by participating in the Society at the committee level. If you are interested in being part of a Committee please contact the TS Headquarters office.
